Mother Nature: Reminding Us of Our Fundamental Connection with the Earth
This body of work consists of three mini-series: Where She Awakens, Where She Lives, and Where Sorrow Meets Hope. The paintings and drawings in these series explore Mother Nature as an archetype who has resurfaced across time and cultures. Her archetype is reemerging now, in a world that greatly needs Her, to remind us of humanity’s fundamental connection with and dependence on the natural world. Through my work, I honor this divine feminine being, inviting others to recognize and respect both nature and women in their daily lives.
Rendered realistically yet imbued with idealistic qualities, my paintings and drawings bring Mother Nature to life in various forms. Sometimes She appears human and naturalistic; other times, She takes on an essence of magical realism. She manifests as many faces, and displays various emotions, each asking us to embrace Her in all Her wondrous forms. Vibrant colors guide the viewer’s eye across the compositions, immersing them in Her fierce and powerful presence.
My art creates space for both sorrow and hope—sorrow for the harm we have inflicted upon Nature and hope for a future where we actively work to protect and heal Her. Through remembrance, self-reflection, and reconnection, we can become more just and compassionate beings, treating Nature with the love and care She needs and deserves.
